Here is your Monthly Dose of Testing Land, a list of what I’m exploring, mulling, and experiencing each month.

What I read

I read many fiction books in November, including thrillers, mysteries, and crime novels. I absolutely love this genre of writing, and my life would not be the same without it! Below are some of the books that I read, which all received at least a 4-star rating out of 5 on my Goodreads page. The books are listed in no particular order - The Woman in Cabin 10, The Couple at Number 9, Woman on the Edge, The Chestnut Man, and of course, The Housemaid.

Board game for preschoolers

Outfoxed! As our daughter is already in preschool age, we started to experience playing board games together, as her patience and attention developed a lot. Outfoxed! is a collaboration board game, featuring a fun evidence scanner and adorable fox suspects. Clues help you determine what the guilty fox is wearing so you can rule out suspects as you travel the board.

Recipe I tried

Advocaat. Or also named egg liqueur. Advocaat is a traditional Dutch alcoholic beverage made from egg yolks, sugar, and brandy. It is perfect for this Christmassy period🎄, with its velvety texture and intense taste. For the recipe I used:

🥚6 egg yolks, 🥛1 can sweetened condensed milk, 🍸125 g vodka, 🥃 125 g brandy, and vanilla extract.

Place the egg yolks, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract in a bowl and stir to mix. Boil the mix of Au Bain-Marie heating. Add the vodka and brandy and keep stirring. Continue until you reach a temperature of 70 °C as measured by a thermometer. If you prefer a thinner consistency, add 150-200 g full cream milk.

A tool I started to play with

Notion. After over a decade of working with the Atlassian ecosystem, I decided to give a try to this trendy tool, called Notion. At first glance, Notion looks more like Atlassian's Confluence. One of the things that struck me first is Notion's flexibility and ease of customization in formatting control, especially how easy it is to make things pretty and readable.

TV Series I started to watch again

The Office. A mockumentary on a group of typical office workers, where the workday consists of ego clashes and inappropriate behavior :) This is one of the most cringe-worthy and amusing TV series I have ever watched.

Have a wonderful day, all!

Love, M.
